Yu Minzhong Chronicles

Yu Minzhong (1714—1780),whose style name is Zhongchang, the other one is Shuzi and he also may be known by the pseudonym Naipu, is the person of Jintan city, Jiangsu Province.Yu Minzhong won the champion in the national exam in the2th year of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1737). Yu Minzhong, an influential chief Han minister in the period of Emperor Qianlong was in his power position for the longest time. He was appointed as the officials of everyday speaker of Confucian classics, the recorder of daily life of Emperor Qianlong, the assistant minister of the Ministry of War, Revenue, Punishment in feudal China, the head teacher of crown prince, the head officer of Wenhua Palace with the minister of the Revenue Ministry. He managed the ministry affairs and the court of Han Lin. Because of his steady and cautious character, he became the minister serving in the office of military plan soon and participated in important decisions for affairs in the imperial court, thus reached the zenith of power in his life. It can be said that his politic status was prominent in the early and mid-term period of Emperor Qianlong. He had a good command of the Machurian language and Chinese and was full of talent.He assumed the office of general compiler of "Si Ku Quan Shu" and the president of National History Library and San Tong Library and other positions of importance. He participated in compiling official documents and played an important role. Apart from that, Yu Minzhong was also in charge of compiling the poems creation by Emperor Qianlong by virtue of his superior memory. These remarkable achievements made his official career smoothly with continuous promotion. Emperor Qianlong gave him preferential treatment after his death with worship him at Xianliang Memorial Temple and reciprocated him with a posthumous name for Wenxiang. However, there is no a specific and systemic work to introduct such a successful talent. Although there existing many of his biographies, the contents are single and can not fully reflect his life story, the study about him is not in-depth enough. Therefore, the author will search related materials and documents widly to collect information and study the family background, life experience of Yu Minzhong, which will achieve a chronicle about his life finally. Thus we will enrich the records of his life activities and go deep into textual research about Yu Minzhong.
