With the introduction of western philosophy of education, people gradually realize that language learning success depends mainly on the learners themselves, while in the process of language learning, anxiety is one of the most important affective factors. Nowadays,the researches mainly focused on the junior and senior high school and college students, adult, but pay less attention on the vacational college students.In this paper, on the basis of practice, questionnaires, interviews and teaching experience and perception, the researcher choose mind map as the intervention tool so as to conducted experiments to test and evaluate the results, hoping to explore methods to reduce anxiety in English learning for Vocational College students.Research method:Using the qustionaire "Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale(FLCAS)" to investigate the anxiety degree of the class in Nanjing Engineering Vocational College, to select the21students in higher anxiety degree, whom have the fear of negative evaluation and test anxiety. Also, interviews and the qustionaire "Strategies in Learning Language (SILL)" have been used in order to further understand the student’s anxiety, which enables the analysis of the cause and adopt the mind map-oriented intervention as a result. After that, there’re18students selected, after radome distribution,9students selected as experimental group and the other9students for control group. For the experimental group,12times of mind map-oriented strategy training will be carried out, and the result before and after the experiment between the experimental group and control group will be analysized to evaluate the anxiety intervention effect.Conclusion:(1) The results before and after the experiment of the experimental group and the control group shows that the12times mind map-oriented intervention can significantly reduce the English learning anxiety and improve their learning achievement.(2) The English learning strategies of Higher Vocational Students’ frequency of use is not high, basically in the "occasional use" category, compensation strategies are most frequently used, cognitive strategies and meta cognitive strategy are used the least;(3) English learning anxiety and language learning skills are negatively related to the test score;...
