Central China, traditionally located in Heluo area, is the core region of ancient Chines e culture. Heluo culture as origin of Chinese ancient culture is the principal part of Ch inese traditional culture with thousands of years. It initiated from pre-historical period, forged in Xia, Shang, and Zhou, further developed in Qin, Han, Weijin and Nanbei d ynasty, and reached the summit in Sui, Tang and Beisong dynasty. Heluo culture grad ually spread into all parts of China and some neighbouring areas by means of populati on migration and nationality fusion. While at the meantime the culture of neighbourin g areas and minorities also has an influence on Heluo culture. Therefore, Heluo cultur e was turned into the cornerstone of Zhonghua civilization based on such kinds of mu al exchange, penetration, influence and learning. This thesis analyses the spread of Han cultural circle which is represented by Heluo c ulture into Northeast Asia, particular Korea by referring to many relevant historical ev idences. From Korea’s passive acceptance to active interaction, the contents and form s of cultural influences between two nations also changed as time went by. From the p erspective of step-by-step cultural diffusion theory, the foreign culture will never be i ntegrated and copied completely no matter how strong and powerful it is, instead it wi11be changed and innovated by the native culture and finally became an innate part of native culture. There are four stage of cultural diffusion from Han cultural circle to K orea:1. inherited form Zhonghua civilization,2. developed Korea’s national culture,3. learning from Japanese culture(not mentioned in this thesis),4. cultural development after the separation between South and North. After experiencing these four stages, K orea has already separated herself from Han cultural circle, while there are still so ma ny borrowed Chinese words in Korean and still deep influences from Kongmeng belie fs on the spiritual life of South Korea and North Korea. At present, each and every co untry plays an active role in constructing modern civilization as the development of gl obalization, with no exception of Korean peninsular. The harmonious co-existence an d development of modern culture and Confucius and Buddhist culture once again wor ks as a powerful evidence of Heluo culture’s influences on Korea in the long history o f thousands of years.
