A Study On The Moisture Method Of Contemporary Landscape Painting

The purpose of this research is to prove that SuMo method plays a leading role in recent painting history and the target of this study is traditional painting technique-SuMo method. Although SuMo is not that familiar to people, Guo Xi invent SuMo in Song dynasty. Due to the physical properties of SuMo, which indicates, that SuMo is hard to use because it contaminate the whole painting easily. As a result, artists do not use SuMo a lot in the history. However, things changed after Huang Binghong who is a famous painter in1930s encourage people to use SuMo. In his painting book-<How to painting>, he mentioned seven painting methods for the first time. Even though, few people show concerns about SuMo method and few people did research on this method. But the truth is that, plenty of paintings in the history using this method in the way people usually ignore. So I think it is necessary and important to look deep in this amazing method using in painting. This paper discuss in three parts:The first part is using the definition, origin, and applies of SuMo method to analyze the theory base of Chinese painting. Discuss how SuMo method would different if using different brush and different ink to find out how to choose appropriate tools to finish SuMo painting.The second part is using theme, brush and ink, and emotional express to try to understand the paintings using only SuMo methods. First of all, Huang Binghong’s painting is using suitable SuMo method and expressed well. Next is about Zhang Jie, he used short express SuMo method to get unreadable feelings for the painting. Last but not least, artists belong HoulingNan using more dark colors to bind SuMo method and became characteristic painting style.The third part pays more attention on the effect that SuMo painting had on recent Chinese painting history, discussing positive and negative affects both. Finally the writer will provide suggestions about SuMo methods based on experiences of own.In a word, SuMo method shows that Chinese painting should create more styles inside each method to create characteristic styles. And studying SuMo methods had important affects on innovation.
