Lexical chunk is an important part of language, and it is the focus of language learning. With the development of research, scholars have found that the lexical chunk theory plays an increasingly important role in foreign language teaching. Lexical chunk of teaching provide a new perspective to the teachers, it also helps the Chinese language learners to improve the sense of language, make them speak pure Chinese language fluently. This paper aims to research "X qian X hou", and comprehensive analysis of the syntax and semantic features of the lexical chunk. It will be compared with the relevant lexical chunk, such as "qian X hou X""zuo X you X". Finally, proceed from the lexical chunk theory, to explore the positive role of lexical chunk in teaching CAFL (Chinese as a foreign language).Use "X qian X hou" as an example to make an instructional design, and put forward teaching suggestions. The main contents of the paper can be divided into the following sections:The introduction focuses on the background and significance of the topics, the status of the domestic and foreign on the research of lexical chunk, research methods and innovative points.Chapter one focuses on the composition and type of "X qian X hou", when X is a noun or a verb, the structural features of "X qian X hou". Secondly, it focuses on the meaning of "qian" and "hou". The constitute of "X qian X hou" can be analyzed from two aspects:the loosen structure ("X qian X hou"="X qian"+"X hou") and the solidified structure("X qian X hou"#’X qian"+"X hou"). Analyzing their composition characteristics and conversion of semantic restrictions can help us grasp the usage of "X qian X hou" comprehensively.Chapter two mainly inspect syntactic and semantic features of "X qian X hou", besides Subject, object, predicate, attribute, adverbial and complements, it can also act as independent language. As "qian" and’’hou" have the meaning of time and space, this chapter will explore and analyze "X qian X hou" based on two sides. Finally, research the formation process of "X qian X hou" diachronically, and explain its formation mechanism from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. Chapter three focuses on the comparison between "X qian X hou" and "qian X hou X","X qian X hou" and "zuo X you X", the comparison is based on their composition features and semantic features. By comparing, it can be concluded that there are many similarities between these lexical chunks, so the classification for relevant lexical chunk is very important to vocabulary teaching of CAFL, this will help learners master the language faster and improve their learning efficiency.Chapter four focuses on the role of lexical chunk teaching in CAFL, and applies it to the actual teaching on "X qian X hou" and other relevant lexical chunks. By the author’s experience, make instructional design to guide the teaching.In short, this article is under the guidance of lexical chunk theory, and applies language research of "X qian X hou" to teach CAFL, makes more systematic teaching ideas and implementation methods. The paper aims at highlighting the status of lexical chunk and plays its role in teaching CAFL to improve the efficiency and level of Chinese language learners.
