Tibet lies on the southwestern border of China, whose handcraft industry isalways in the form of avocation alongside agriculture and livestock. As an example,Taba and Pare village in west Mila Mountains that is70kilometers away from Lhasa, are famous for their skilled Pottery-making craft. In Taba, people still use slowly-wheeling skills, one of the oldest molding way, to make pottery. However, astraditional handcraft skills in ethnic minority regions gradually come to decline,Taba can’t stand alone. How to both protect and improve Tibetan traditional potterymaking skills is still a important task for us, and Taba will be a good example tomention. |
