Yidu Neolithic Pottery-making Handicraft Research

Pottery is the carrier of culture, pottery craft is to witness a culture. Study of pottery-making handicraft is a culture in the study at the same time. In this paper, on the one hand, based on surveys in the field, relied on archaeological materials and dessigned Yidu region as a hub, I have introduced Yidu indigenous neolithic pottery of different periods in the shape, decorations and various aspects of the characteristics of ceramic technology, and drawn a conclusion is that Yidu neolithic pottery-making handicraft of prophase molding technology had experienced an evolution process—manual knead, clay-strip forming, slow wheel dressing, fast turn-round molding method, and combed the fire method of later pottery-making handicraft—open fire, kiln carburizing, carburizing outside the kiln, etc; On the other hand, I have compared the pottery-making craft in different region with Yidu at the same time. I targeted introduced Daxi culture period of kiln carburizing and Yangshao culture period of slow wheel molding technology and Yidu Jishi culture and Shandong Longshan culture of the new characteristics of pottery in late neolithic age. In addition, in the end of this article, the author, based on the region in the Yidu folk pottery, have also tried to analyze its cultural connotation and aesthetic characteristics.
