Various handwritten copies during the time of Cultural Revolution in contemporary China constitute a very important part of Misty Literature. They not only focus on the social spirits life of people at that time, but feed the spiritual hunger of the youth to some extent, enriching the literature in Cultural Revolution which has its certain meaning in the history of literature.Based on the research of the creating background, motive and spreading of the handwritten copies, the thesis furthers its discussion on four classic handwritten novels, including The Second Handshake, The Wave, When The Twilight Has Gone and Love Letter to Public. The novel of The Second Handshake focus on the life of the intellectuals. It is bravely enough to break the restricted zone in Chinese literature at that time to describe and praise the humanity, showing the author’s independent literary quality. Besides such kind of breaking comes to its inheritance and development to the spirits and narrative modes of the Seventeen-year literature. For The Wave, with modernism narrative style, it depicts a broad social picture on the life during the time of Cultural Revolution. The novel has a strong social critical sense which comment great criticism on federal tradition, the top dog in Cultural Revolution and the Cultural Revolution itself. What’s more, the novel also refers to the people’s individual consciousness at that time. As an early novel to describe the introspection of Mao’s red guards, When The Twilight Has Gone depicts in details the whole spiritual process of those red guards from feverish to regret, overturning the mainstream literature through several respects including The figure of ChuXuanwu, the irony and a burlesque of major history scene, the doubt and denial to the integration of the world. At the same time, the novel also flows with full air of religion. The Love Letter to Public shows the exploration of a generation in dark time with the epistolary style. The call for sincerity, the fervent concern about the outlet of future China and the hot pursuit for personal involvement all greatly touched the generation at that time. All of these novels not only impress a generation but also show a very important meaning in the history of literature. They successfully transover the mainstream literature, practicing humanitarian tradition which gradually disappeared since May fourth movement. Meantime, they hold close tie to scar literature, reflective literature as well as modernist literature, linking to the whole history of literature as a misty wiring.
