| Vincenzo Bellini was one of the most famous Italian opera composer. He paid muchattention to the voice which he thought had huge expression in the music. One type ofhis music is exciting and inspiring, it always appears in an heroine opera scene, such as a chorus in the opera; Another type of his music is graceful and touched, andfull of romance, such as the six ariettas which I will analyze in this dissertation.Bellini-Melody——accompanied by some broken chords on the basso, the melody ofvoice always starts from a broad long tune, then to the climax, and then back to thebroad long tune. This forms a beautiful long-flowing melody line. Probably it is theunique melody line, makes the Bellini-Melody the feeling of depression and grief. There is a special fascination from the inside of his music, which makes peoplemoving to tears.I will research this special fascination from three parts, in order to learn theworks of Bellini much deeper, so that well performing and teaching them, and properlyexpressing this kind of depression and grief, then forward to other composers orworks. In this dissertation, first, introduce the biography of Bellini, and how washe influenced by the Romanticism; Second, analyze the six classic Ariettes fromlyrics, music form, tonality, melody, harmony, accompaniment, rhythm, ornaments, tuneand etc.; Third, compare Bellini with other composers who had a similar life. Afterall the analyses and compare, it is found that a feeling of depression and grief ofBellini’s music is not an accidental. A down way is often used in either melodycomposing or ornaments. His abnormal personal life maybe another factor lead to mostof his works full of depression and grief. |
