Music appreciation is always given serious attention. As a complex psychological process, it can improve the aesthetic experience of music, inspire a variety of perceptual thinking, and develop intuition and imagination. While in the internet age, musical communication has changed a lot because of the popularity of the technological revolution and the network. The incorporation between music and image brings about numerous forms of media. So in contemporary society, peoples’attention focuses on film and television, internet and animation. It is audio-visual time now.Currently, so many research and practice are performed on music appreciation, but most of them lay emphasis on improving music appreciation capacity, the emotional reaction and aesthetic psychology. Correspondingly, there is less study on the relationship between music appreciation and image. In order to expand peoples’ imagination and creativity, the author wants to find a balance between visual pattern, auditory modality and creativity on the basis of interaction between music appreciation and image. By reviewing the traditional way of music appreciation practice, the author finds that:on the one hand, the mutual integration of of sound and picture is better at presenting a character’s inner world.It can reflect the complexity of life and enrich the expression of animation. On the other hand, the strength of the music performance of emotional intensity, rendering the atmosphere of joys and sorrows, and visuals can complement each other to make up for lack of emotional depth and intensity. Generally speaking, the focus of this paper is on the relationship between music appreciation and animation visual arts, drawing on the experience of Western in this regard for reference, analyzing the classic documentation<Peter and the Wolf>which was directed by Suzie Templeton, and exploring the way of development and the feasibility of the Chinese Music Animation.
