| Chinese shadow puppet an artistic form of the traditional Chinese Opera, combines art, music and performance is a successful melange of folk craft and Chinese Opera, which has a long history. There are numerous shadow puppet schools in China.Among these schools, the shadow puppet in Guanzhong area (the centre place in Shaanxi) influences wildly, and this kind of art in Hua County is most typical of Dong school in Guanzhong area. Comparing with other shadow puppet groups, the shadow puppet in Hua County has its unique figures of arts in carving, performing and folk singing.As a traditional folk art, Chinese shadow puppet in Hua County was a means of living for those folk performers, also, it was an night time entertainment for those formers who lived in the poor countryside with no spiritual and cultural life. In recent years, the political, and cultural undertakings have developed rapidly, which has promoted the process of modernizing. With the development of information technology and imaging technology, there is a good opportunity for cultural arts to be inherited, however, the traditional culture also gets into difficulties, even the shadow puppet in Hua. Originated from the folk and flourishing for a time, the shadow puppet in the Hua Xian has changed a lot in carving and performing, and has steadily be losing the battle with culture changes and modern forms of entertainment in China’s swiftly modernizing republic.As people understand the significance of traditional folk culture profoundly, protecting and inheriting the traditional folk culture has been an important aspect of maintaining the world culture’s diversity and sustainable development of human society in the economic globalization era. At the aspect of protecting and developing Hua County’s shadow figures, our government and related departments have done field surveys, collected and verified related data, and then taken some effective measures. In2006, Hua County’s shadow figures were listed as the1st batch of national non-material cultural heritage. In2007, it was again listed as the1st provincial cultural heritage in Shaanxi Province. All these above manifested that the government thought much of the protection of Hua County’s shadow figures. However the following protection efforts show that the result was not very satisfactory. In this article, I’ll explore the craftsmanship, artistic style and folk singing of the shadow puppet in Hua County to show its aesthetic; refer to large amounts of documentation, with the approach of Field Work, to analyze the causes of present situation that shadow puppet of Hua County is losing now from both objective and subjective points of view; try to put forward some suggestions to promote the continuation and development of this kind of fork arts, protect the traditional Chinese culture and put the Sustainable Development of Human and Culture into effect.The first part will give a brief overview of the works on shadow puppet of Hua County verified by foreign and domestic experts and give the goal and main methods of this research; The second part will give a introduction about the cultural features of the shadow puppet in Hua County, and focus on historical roots, development, social influence and features of the shadow puppet in Hua County; The third part will analyze the aesthetic features of shadow puppet in Hua County, through its making arty, performance and folk singing. The fourth part will introduce the situation of the shadow puppet inheritance in Hua County from culture visual angle, indicate the problems during inheriting and developing time, and analyze the causes from different aspects. The fifth part will put forward some suggestions of its inheritance and innovations to the problems. |
