Exploring Chopin 's Inheritance And Development Of Field Night Piano

"Nocturne" is a piano works with unique style created in romanticism period, which is a very important piano music in the nineteenth century with distinct features of the times. As the initial creator of piano Nocturne.Field, with his18piano Nocturne, played an important role in the history of piano music. However, the one who brought the genre of piano Nocturne into maturity was the great pianist Chopin. Chopin inherted the form of Field’s Nocturne, but he did not copy Field. In his later creation of Nocturne, Chopin opened up a path of his own, enlarging the scale of the initial salon music which simply expressed romance and elegance, adding his own unique style and developing it into a mature piano genre with profound thinking and rich connotation. The common method used to compare two composers is comparative research. But when looking up materials, the author finds that there are not only differences between Field and Chopin. Many literatures have mentioned the inheritance between Field and Chopin. But after searching domestic authoritative literature websites, the author finds that domestic scholars pay less attention to Field. Indeed, Field was buried in the long river of history after his brilliant period, but his push for the development of piano music could not be ignored. This article summarizes the evolution process of Nocturne from Field to Chopin, explores the inheritance of Chopin’s Nocturne from Field’s Nocturne in creation structure, while maintaining the lyrical melody style of Nocturne. The innovative development of Chopin’s Nocturne lies on that it combines the melody and instrumental music and adds in strong dramatic contrast, transfering Nocturne from the original single style salon music into piano genre with mature structure and rich contents. In addition, through the conclusion of features of Nocturne, and focusing on style characteristics, this article starts from playing techniques analysis and technical difficulties and how to practice, puts forward some methods and suggestions on how to perform Nocturne, hoping to contribute to better understanding and playing of piano Nocturne.This article is divided into six chapters:Chapter One, Introduction, mainly elaborates the research value and significance of this topic, literature review at home and abroad, as well as the problems to be solved in this research; Chapter Two, mainly describes the background of piano music Nocturne and its creator Field; analyzes the creation characteristics of Field’s piano Nocturne from four aspects including musical form structure, tonality, harmony and accompaniment; discusses the style characteristics of Field’s Nocturne from timbre, speed and emotion; and summarizes the main characteristics of Field’s Nocturne;Chapter Three, introduces Chopin’s life and find his inheritance of Field’s Nocturne in accordance with the characteristics of Field’s Nocturne mentioned in Chapter Two;Chapter Four, analyzes the creation techniques and artistic style of Chopin’s Nocturne, and explores Chopin’s innovation and development of piano Nocturne in combination with music scores;Chapter Five, on basis of the conclusions of characteristics of Nocturne, puts forward the technical key points and difficult points in Nocturne, as well as the author’s thoughts and suggestions for performing Nocturne.The last chapter s the conclusion of the article.
