The Romantic School of Music rose gradually in the early nineteenth century. It flourished in the nineteenth century. The forms of music became more and more abundant. The most composers mainly created lyric works in this period.Nocturne was a piano music genre with beautiful melody and slow rhythm created by John Field(1782-1837)in this period. It was aimed to express emotion as well as the silence of the night.Afterwards,Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin(1810-1849)continued to explore this genre,so that Nocturne was further developed.Firstly, the origin and development of nocturne are taken as the premise. The style characteristics of Chopin's and Field's nocturnes are summed up by comparing the similarities and differences between Chopin's twenty-one Nocturnes and Field's eighteen Nocturnes in terms of rhythm, mode, speed and style.Secondly,it compares Chopin's Op.9,No.2 with the first Nocturne of Field in terms of form structure, harmony, texture and speed. Finally, the key touching method, pedal application, strength and emotional expression of the two nocturnes are explored on the basis of playing practice.
