Dialogue with the purpose of raise intimacy level plays a very important role in our daily lives. People lead this kind of dialogues to better know each other, and eventually improve the interpersonal relationship. However, not much study touches the scientific value of this kind of dialogues.On current stage, studies of dialogue focus on its structure and principle. Wang Jianhua, a Chinese scholar, advised a new understanding about《oliteness principle》, which links with 《evel of intimacy》. On the basis of his study, we can assume that 《intimacy》 as a psychological concept has a connection with 《ialogue》; while on the other hand, the level of intimacy could be changed by dialogue.This thesis will define and categorize dialogues with the purpose of raise level of intimacy, and analyze the syntactical features in them. A scientific method of study will be discussed, so as to become a reference for future study of the similar topic.This thesis is comprised of the abstract, the body and the conclusion.The abstract explained the motivation of choosing the topic, the theoretical basis, the applicability, creativeness and value of the thesis.The main body is comprised of three chapters.Chapter1introduced the study history of dialogues with the purpose of raise the level of intimacy; gave definition from the aspects of goal, content and psychological status; analyzed the main feature of this kind of dialogues:instability in goal, and complexity in request of politeness.Chapter2advised the principle of categorizing this kind of dialogues; categorized them into dialogues with change in goal, and dialogues without change in goal; analyzed the level of intimacy from the perspectives of oral vocabulary and phraseology.Chapter3analyzed the syntactical features of this kind of dialogues. Dialogues are divided into three types:dialogue with zero intimacy, dialogue with low intimacy, dialogue with high intimacy; then syntactical features are discussed from the aspects of format and expression of emotion.In the conclusion part, conclusive statements and the future of this study are pointed out.
