During the Anti-Japanese War, the long-been blocked and oppressed Chinese Communist Party arose as a legitimate party in the Chinese political stage and came into the world vision for the first time. Although the KMT and the CCP had achieved the second collaboration and established the Anti-Japanese National United Front, the KMT never really gave up the idea of eliminating the Communist Party. Therefore, when the international situation became favorable to the KMT, Chiang Kai-shek’s Government would not miss any chance to suppress the CCP. The Chinese battlefield of the Anti-Japanese War was not only related to the survival of China, but also closely linked with the outcome of the World Anti-Fascist War, and in turn the attitudes of major powers like the US and the USSR had a large influence on the relationships between various political forces in China as well. Especially during the three severe crises between the CCP and the KMT, international factors produced significant effects in their occurrence, development as well as resolution. It was also during the recognition and response of those three crises that the CCP gradually changed its closed period’s understanding of international relations, learned to judge international situation independently, and not only continued to develop its long-term relationship with the USSR and the Communist International, but also began to explore contacts with the United States and Britain as well as other countries. This was the initial stage of the CCP to carry out its comprehensive foreign exchanges. The first severe crisis between the CCP and the KTM occurred when the US and Britain openly supported the Anti-Japanese War for the first time. At that time, apart from habitually seeking guidance and help from the Communist International, the CCP rely more on military response to cope with the KTM’s anti-communist behavior. The second severe crisis occurred when German, Italy and Japan established alliance and the US as well as the USSR tried to draw the KTM government over. The CCP at this stage had shifted away from blindly criticizing the US and Britain, and rather began to regard them as potential alliances, tried to convey information to them and made a windfall. The third crisis occurred when the World Anti-Fascist Alliance was established, Chiang Kai-shek’s Government representing China as one of the world’s top five countries, coinciding with the dissolution of the Communist International. After several years of development, the CCP began to skillfullyuse its relations with the US and Britain to contain the KTM’s anti-communist behavior, keeping potential conflicts from happening. This process marked the increasing maturity of the CCP. So to understand and to study this process will help us better understand the CCP’s history of foreign affairs and relations with the CCP-KTM during the Anti-Japanese War. Besides, by studying the history of the CCP’s using international factors to defuse the three crises, we can realize the positive effect of using international factors during the Anti-Japanese War. At the same time, we can also learn that full range multi-channel contacts with foreign countries is one of the many trumps that helped the CCP to eventually win the revolution.
