Recently, with the improvement of China’s national power and its increasinginfluence on the international affairs, as a symbol of a nation’s culture and history,Chinese language receives more and more attention with increasing numbers oflearners. Up to last year, the number of Confucius Institution has made a historicalbreakthrough and international Chinese Teaching has also undergone anunprecedented development. Therefore, the rapid growth of teachers teachingChinese as a foreign language and their capability to carry out teaching practice havebecome the urgency of Chinese international education. In the group of futureteachers, there is a large group of trainers with educational background in English.Their special background determines their common points during their growth.Accordingly, particular requirements are drawn during their development and training.This is what the author analyses and illustrates in this paper.Documentary study, interview study, questionnaire method and dairy analysisare applied to this study. Through combing the recent development of internationalChinese education, the author finds there are some profound researches in differentaspects during its short development. However, there is seldom attention to theteachers with educational background in English. Therefore, by doing questionnaire,interview and analyzing certain dairies, the author sums up the advantages,difficulties and challenges of this group in their development. Based on their desiresfor systematic study of Chinese ontology knowledge and practice course, curriculumarrangement suggestions and pre-service training lessons are put forward in the paper.Furthermore, based on Standards for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of OtherLanguages and teachers’ professional development theory, the author proposes thatthe cognition of teachers’ professional development should be enhanced during theirdevelopment and training, teachers’research capabilities being cultivated consciously through the combination of theory and practice. By doing so, it provides guaranteesfor sustainable and healthy development of Chinese International education.
