A Study On The Present Situation Of Program Designing For Pre-service English Teacher Education

The curriculum is the main way for pre-service English teachers to acquire solid professional theoretical knowledge.It plays a crucial role in the cultivation process of pre-service English teachers.The rationality of the curriculum determines whether the training objectives can be well achieved and teaching tasks can be completed successfully or not.Adopting the theory of teachers' professional development as the research basis,under the guidance of correlative theories of teacher knowledge,this study employs the setting of curriculum for the pre-service English teachers of four universities in Shaanxi Province as the research object.It discusses and analyzes the status of English teacher pre-service education curriculum in order to find the main problems and propose some corresponding solutions and suggestions.With the method of literature,comparative analysis,questionnaire survey and interview method,the article firstly analyzes the pre-service English teachers education curriculum of four universities,respectively,A school,B school,C school and and D school.Then the senior students and the first-line English teachers graduated from these institutions are investigated and interviewed.On the basis of investigation and analysis,the thesis sums up the main problems in the setting of education curriculum in the correlated universities: the proportion of various types of courses is unbalanced;the proportion of elective courses and required courses is not reasonable;the content of courses is not abundant and the curriculum is not practical.Regarding the problems above,the specific countermeasures and suggestions are given: change the concept of pre-service English teacher education curriculum;adjust and optimize the pre-service English teacher education curriculum structure;enrich and perfect pre-service English teacher education curriculum content.
