Chinese dialect has a long history, and it is the product of nature and society.The Dialect written by Yang xiong who was born in western han dynasty is the oldestresearch dialect materials existed. Most scholars generally believe that pronunciationand grammar are the main characteristics of the dialects, so pronunciation andgrammar have always been regarded as the core of dialects. However, few payattention to the dialect words, so that the dialect words are just the subordinatecontent in dialect researches. In fact, a comprehensive, multi-angle analysis to thelocal dialect words can help people comprehensively understand dialects. Jian shuidialect belongs to the Yunnan mandarin of the northern dialects. It has not only richdialect words, but also their own special characteristics. This paper intends to chooseadjectives of the ABB, Four character and proverbs in Jian shui dialect as the researchobjects, and describe, analyze, discuss the three parts from the perspectives ofstructure, meaning, and grammar.The whole thesis is divided into six parts. The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the significance of the topic, the research content, researchsituation, research methods and the sources of materials. The second part brieflyintroduces Jianshui and Jian shui dialect, such as the Jian shui geographical location,history, culture, and the general situation of Jian shui dialect. The third part exploresthe adjectives of the ABB in Jian shui dialect from the perspectives of the structuralclassification, structural transformation, and the pragmatic situations. The fourthpart illustrates the Four character from the perspectives of structure, grammar andfeatures. The fifth part examines the proverbs in Jian shui dialect from the aspectssuch as ideological content, semantic content, features, rhetoric and cultureconnotation. The sixth part is conclusion.Based on the modern linguistic theory, on the fieldwork, and on the previousresearch achievements, this paper explores and analyzes the ABB adjectives, the Four character and proverbs in Jian shui dialect. The author hopes that this research will behelpful for the Jian shui dialect.
