In this paper, the thinking and the matter of identity is as the research theme. Tobe more specific, it puts Engels and Kant’s idea about thinking and the problems ofidentity as the main research object, which shows the differences of their thoughts bya comparative study. Previous studies concluded that Kant set the "thing-in-itself"outside consciousness, claiming that phenomenon can only be known, but not itsnature. Therefore it is agnostic. Engels, based on the production of practice inindustry and the experiment, namely those practice in work solve Kant’s"thing-in-itself", put forward that the world on the basis of the active practice. Thisviewpoint, of course, the author is going to abide by throughout the paper. However, this article attempts to study Engels and Kant’s view of identity and matters ofthinking and ideas from the angle of whether they are identify, along with theidentity process of thinking and existence, the characteristics of thinking and thematter of identity, meaning. Therefore, by the means of literature data collection, theunity of historical and logical analysis, the method of comparative analysis, thispaper reveals the identity problems of Engels and Kant’s thought and existence, which is the focus of this paper and the crucial matter. The reason why the authordoes so is to treat their views on this matter dialectically, so that the ability to knowthe world would be unified with pursuit and belief, and finally the profoundunderstanding of Marxist philosophy epistemology would be achieved at the sametime. The purpose of the thesis illustrates that Engels solves the identity of thoughtand existence on the basis of materialism、practice、dialectics、history, so as to clarifythe thought orientation and non supremacy; Kant solves the identity of thought andexistence with congenital form, thereby, Kant limits the scientific knowledge tokeeping faith for turf.
