Bhagavad Gita is not only a miraculous theology work, but also a world-classclassic. In the past thousands of years, it has enjoyed a prominent status and highpopularity in Indian history. People call it “Bible of Hinduism” for its great influence.This paper will unfold the aesthetic ideology in this masterpiece by analyzing theconnotations of “Dharma”,“Brahman” and “Yoga” which are essential to Indianthought.This paper is divided into four parts. The first part gives a brief introduction ofBhagavad Gita, including its background and stories, thus readers can have acomprehensive understanding of its content and ideas. This paper summarizes theideas of this classic into three points: Dharma, Brahman and Yoga, and makes a briefconclusion for their implied aesthetic ideologies. Finally, this paper explores theinfluence of Dharma, Brahman and Yoga on aesthetic standard and conception inIndian aesthetics.In the second part, the author aims to analyze the concept of “Dharma”. AsSaddhamma of Indian thought, Dharma not only regulates human’s codes of conductspsychologically and physically, but also forces human to fulfill their duties andobligations. Besides, Dharma-centered value has a direct impact on the aestheticstandard of Indian classical aesthetics.In the third part, this paper focuses on the connotation of “Brahman”. The authorreveals the implication of “brahma-atma-aikyam”, namely, the unity of man andBrahman, by analyzing the existence and self-nature of “Brahman”, enabling readersto experience the aesthetic spirit of “unity of man and Brahman”.In the fourth part, the author explores four practicing ways of “Yoga” inBhagavad Gita. By summarizing various practicing ways of “Yoga”, the authormakes a conclusion of different methods adopted by ancient Indians in the course ofthe realization of aesthetic standard and experience. The above four parts correspond to four different levels of aesthetic ideology inBhagavad Gita. Through an in-depth and detailed analysis of theology and science ofreligions, this paper aims to uncover the magnificence of Indian classic aesthetics.
