A Report On English-chinese Translation Of Yoga Therapy For Selected Diseases

The translation report is based on the task of translating Yoga Therapy for Selected Diseases,which has been translated by the author conscientiously,counting for 13,983 words in total.The source text mainly consists of two parts.The first part includes the introduction to concept of health,concept of disease,basic principles of yoga therapy,survey of therapeutic research and supporting therapies.The second part includes twelve chapters,and one or two common psychosomatic diseases have been explained in each chapter,including concepts,signs and symptoms,causes,and yogic treatment.The Skopos Theory proposed by Hans J.Vermeer,who is a leading representative of German Functionalism School,has been employed as the guiding translation theory,from which the target of the translation task and the function of the target version have been defined to serve and benefit Chinese-oriented readers.Meanwhile,according to the skopos theory and its stipulated three rules,namely the skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule,not only has the proper translation strategy been applied but also translation techniques have been used flexibly on the basis of the theory.The report is mainly divided into two parts: Part One is about the source text and the target text;Part Two includes significance of the translation task,introduction and analysis of the source text,translating process,the application of the translation theory and related strategies,types of problems during translation process,case studies on solving problems with proper strategies and techniques,and the summary of the translation task.
