Chinese painting and calligraphy have a long history of carrying Chinese culture,and formed a kind of unique oriental spirit in the developing process. Gongbi paintingas a type of contemporary art provide painter with a rich variety of creative languages.Due to the special nature of lines in the gongbi painting, the spiritual connotation ofnationality, and diverse aesthetic values, determines that the gongbi painting is a kindof art which is infinitely charming and extremely inclusive. This paper aims to studythe close relationship between the line drawing and calligraphy figure, the linedrawing and calligraphy have a common sense of language and expression, in otherwords, they originated from the same source. From the origins of line drawing andcalligraphy figure, the analogical aesthetic aim and the utilize of calligraphic figure ingongbi painting, I try to analyse this close relationship between calligraphy andpainting. The "line" is the technical characteristics of Chinese style brushwork figureis also the foundation and pillar of Chinese painting. Therefore, meticulous portraitsof "line" has its special status.
