Looking back at the development history of Chinese figure painting,the importance of lines is beyond doubt.With the esteem,refinement,development,and change of lines by artists throughout the ages,line drawing,a painting form composed of only a few lines without the use of blooming colors,had gradually developed its unique artistic expression and aesthetic pursuits.It was established during the Song and Yuan Dynasties and reached its heyday,which directly influenced the art of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and became one of the important traditional painting styles in China.In this era of our time,it is still of practical significance for the teaching and creation of Chinese painting to discuss the excellent traditional line drawing works,analyze the subtlety of their painting methods,and understand the deep reasons for the formation of the style and interest of the works.If we can deeply appreciate the artistic support brought by the original works in copying,we can depict the texture and character of objective objects with the appearance of the times by changing the thickness,weight,reality and unreality,straightness and flexuosity,rigidity and flexibility of the lines in sketching,and then develop our own unique line art style in the creation.This paper is divided into four chapters to discuss the layout of line figure painting,line form and its independent aesthetic language,modeling and lines,and the effects of painting materials on line form.As the first part,in the layout method,the paper mainly discusses two problems:the difference in layout view between the line drawing works and the coloring works,and the echo and contrast in the layout.The line form and the various aesthetic styles it embodies are an important part of this paper.The three line characteristics represented by the aesthetic tendency of the Tiexian(Iron-Wire)Line Drawing,the conscious consciousness of the Lanye(Orchid Leaf)Line Drawing and the major changes of the Abbreviated Drawing are discussed separately.In the part of modeling and line,this paper analyzes from the following perspectives:how to shape with lines,the individual and era style reflected by the modeling difference,the reflection of the environment on the character image.The research on the relationship between the development and changes of materials and tools and various styles of line drawing is the last part of this paper.The use of different materials and tools will produce different painting effects,which has a direct impact on the formation of artistic styles.From the point of view of art practitioners,this paper selects some typical existing line drawing figure works of the Song and Yuan Dynasties to conduct image research,and makes an in-depth analysis of the visual art language presented by the works by combining with the relevant literature materials and my own insights from years of art practice.
