This dissertation investigated the Forty Two Chapters Sutra From The Buddha’sSayings, focused on its philosophical theories. First, provided this Sutra’sbackground, pointed out its characteristics and the present situation of academicalresearch, and according to such, I gave out my way in this research, and that is why Ifocused on its philosophical theories. In the first chapter, the fruits and methods forenlightenment are discussed. And which involved in the two sides of enlightenment’smeanings, and the knowledge of method and the fruits of going out of home. TheBuddhist ethics is discussed in the second chapter, and in which mainly discussed thediscriminations of good and evil, repentance and never criticize others. In the thirdand forth chapter, the Six Vehicles are analyzed. The Six Vehicles are the mostimportant theory of Mahayana, and through Six Vehicles one can organize all thetheories and methods of Mahayana. In these parts, my research is according theSutra’s order and stress, so about Wisdom and Intensive is stressed, is very detailed,and such is fit to the Chinese Buddhism. The fifth chapter is for the contents of trust,understanding and practice. In the end, I analyzed the causes of why this Sutra wasregarded, and discussed about the values for today’s thinking on environmentprotection, relationships and psychological healthy.
