Fu is a distinctive Chinese literary genre, and has its irreplaceable position in the history of literature. As a species of poems, Object-chanting Fu has also undergone a long development process. This thesis takes Object-chanting Fu of Song Dynasty from the long history of Chinese poems as the subject to study.This thesis is divided into three chapters. Chapter One mainly describes the creative themes of Object-chanting Fu of Song Dynasty. The first section is mainly about the subject of Object-chanting Fu of Song Dynasty, confirming that the scope of this study includes three aspects, namely Fu on animals, Fu on plants and Fu on objects. The second section is mainly about the subject’s new changes of Object-chanting Fu of Song Dynasty. This section discusses that the subject choice of Object-chanting Fu of Song Dynasty has the characteristics of variety and “vulgarization” and analyzes the causes of these two characteristics.Chapter Two mainly introduces the themes of Object-chanting Fu of Song Dynasty. This chapter is divided into four parts, with each part introducing one type of Object-chanting Fu. The first type is to sing the praises. Some time after Song Dynasty unified the war, a relatively stable period of development emerges, during which period this kind of Object-chanting Fu are abundantly created. The second type is to give things speech ambition. All scene language is emotional language. Different writers have different backgrounds, and when they are moved by scenes, they will express emotions through describing concrete objects. The third type is poems reasoning. The Song Dynasty is an era that is dominated by Neo-Confucianism. Therefore, advocating reasoning is the most prominent features of that age. Some of them advocate the theory of Laotse and Chuangtse, others advocate the principle of life, letting a hundred flowers blossom. The fourth type is to satirize the snob and express the patriotic emotion. Factionalism of Song Dynasty is very strong; under such special background may writers backfire if they are a little bit careless in creation. Consequently, writers at that time often use euphemisms to express their discontent about the society. Besides, some writers express their sarcasm to the snob and their love to the country at the same time.Chapter Three is mainly about the artistic features and value of Object-chanting Fu of Song Dynasty. The first section introduces the writing technique, namely “taking article as Fu”, discussing its application in the creation of Object-chanting Fu of Song Dynasty. The second section introduces another writing technique, namely “taking talent and learning as Fu”, discussing the intellectual consciousness of the poets in Song Dynasty that are specifically performed in Object-chanting Fu. The third section is about the process that the style of Object-chanting Fu of Song Dynasty develops from antithetical parallelism to rational restraining. During the three hundred and twenty years of the history of Song Dynasty, the styles of Object-chanting Fu changes as time went by. At the beginning of Song Dynasty, Object-chanting Fu inherited the style of previous five dynasties, with characteristics of antithetical parallelism. In the middle of Northern Song Dynasty, under the advocacy of Ouyang Xiu, the style of Object-chanting Fu tends to prosify. Late in the Northern Song Dynasty, writers, like Su Shi, open the lyrics realm and finally complete it in Song Dynasty. When it comes to the Southern Song Dynasty, writers are committed to the creation of “rational interest”, and the style of Object-chanting Fu reveals a relatively strong reasoning featurel.
