| In the recent years, the public art project is flourishing and showing a unprecedented boom in the public art practice both at home and abroad. In the modern art field, the art project have gradually become the beloved of artists and curators. However, in the context of the modern society, not all the art projects are public art. Manifold artistic project and program are defined by complex concepts such as "New Genre Public Art," "Total Art," "Big Art Project", etc., being with no specific definition. What’s more, there are some representative artists who have conservative opinions on public art or even show their standpoint of "opposing public art" though their projects show obvious publicity. Meanwhile, the practitioners as well as the researchers of public art project are coming up with more and more valuable introspections such as whether the public art project is art, social movement or public welfare program, and so on.With such background, this thesis regressed to the core value orientation of public art through methods such as comparative study, case analysis and document analysis, and so on. It tried to clarify the core of the discussions conducted by public art project at home and abroad and to review the problems existed in public art from the perspective of theoretical basis, practice way and trend of thought. This research mainly covered contents such as the relationship between public art project and other related concepts, the current situation of public art project, the advantages and dilemma of public art project in practice, the research and introduction of this field by important professional media or institutions at home and abroad, excellent practice of important artists and groups as well as the creation and thought of the author, hoping to explore the developing trend of public art project, frame the basic standard and orientation of this new and cross-cutting concept and provide suggestions for the creation of public art project. |
