Imbalance In The Reproduction

Monika Porvo was a renowned outstanding wood carving master and her creation was in the period when the wood carving was regarded as "out-dated" ait. Her importance was recognized in her living years, but she still came into the sight of people in the identity of the survivor of a kind of painting and predecessor in the 1980s when the art forms were diversified.Therefore, there is less data about her and there is rare research with regard to her. I hope to study her source of inspiration and the emotional embodiment in her works by knowing her life experience and her physical and psychological defect caused by her special experience (poliomyelitis) during childhood.Based on this, the difference between things seen under abnormal physical state and things seen by normal person is discussed. Due to the special experience and the "abnormal" perspective caused by deficient psychological state, an "unbalanced" world and a world with fuzzy normal limit were observed, which was the core of Monika art and the artistic conception behind her works.This draws my attention to the special psychological state caused by the defect of physical functions. The "abnormal" perspective caused by such specialty produced infinite possibilities. With this perspective, the details of things that could not be found easily could be captured and the new morphology could bring a new visual experience. It was originated from the life, but far from photography; it contained emotion, but was hidden in the artistic conception of works.This was the source of creation and also may be the content of creation and the representation of the truest emotions. Undoubtedly, this was the statement from the heart and also the most essential creation mode. This enriches my understanding of creation and makes me experience the infinite possibility in creation.
