Erhua voice in Mandarin is not only one of the teaching difficulties in phonetics teaching of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, but also a controversial teaching point in modern Chinese teaching. This paper, with experimental phonetics methodology, makes a research of Russian students studying in China whose Chinese proficiency is at intermediate level, and investigates their acquisition of the erhua voice from duration and formant of monosyllabic erhua voice by using sound spectrum technology of Praat, a phonetics software. After comparison and analysis of the characters’ duration and formant F3, we can find from the data there are some differences between Russian students and Chinese students in the pronunciation of monosyllabic erhua voice. These differences indicate some problems exist in Russian students’ learning erhua voice. This paper analyzes the causes of these problems and puts forward corresponding teaching strategies and suggestions in order to provide some help for Russian students’ acquisition of erhua voice.
