Confucius is the founder of Chinese Confucianism, and one of the scholars elaborate “love” in early times. Mencius is another master of Confucianism, though he was not the direct disciple of Mencius, but his ideology of “love” is closely related with Confucius’. Their thoughts were different, but come down in one continuous line. They advocate "love", "intimate relationship", "filial piety", explain the desire and aspirations for love, the most beautiful emotion, and spread it to the world by their own practice. This paper studies their ideology of "love" to explore the detailed content of love, followed by the study of the inheritance and development of Confucius’ ideology of "love" from the aspect of mentorship, and finally by comparison, study the difference of their ideology of “love” advocated by Confucius and Mencius.
