J.M.Coetzee is a famous contemporary writer of South Africa, his novels are based on the history of colonial and apartheid South Africa, in the care of South Africa’s history and reality, his novels reflect the overall survival of the human condition, he is good at describing the marginal figure under grand history. He can use realism, modernism and postmodernism creative approach flexibly, his work is a model of contemporary literary works. Coetzee’s novels break the system of traditional monologic discourse, his work is a good interpretation of Bakhtin’s theory of Dialogue, his literary works are not only reflect the author’s ideology, but also an independent form of existence, every subject in his novels are full of dialogic consciousness.The research object of this paper are Coetzee’s novels, the theory of Dialogue and Carnival of Bakhtin are the theoretical basis, the paper in order to explore the features of Carnival and Dialogue in Coetzee’s novels. This article is divided into five parts to prove the selected topics:The introduction explains J-M-Coetzee and his writings, demonstrate the theory of Dialogue and Carnival with Bakhtin, introduce the research status of domestic and foreign countries, at the same time, resume the research content and methods; First chapter analyzes the Carnival of Coetzee’s novels, mainly discusses the dual personality of Carnival images and Carnival places in order to explore both the Carnival and Dialogic features of Coetzee’s novels; The second chapter analyzes the relationship of Dialogue between all the subjects of Coetzee’s novels, according to the dialogic relationship of characters and themselves, characters and characters, characters and author, the author and the readers, we can explore the four dimensions dialogic features of Coetzee’s novels; The third chapter take Coetzee’s Foe for example, to explore the dialogic relationship between the works of Coetzee and Defoe,explore the reflection of desert island story from Coetzee; At the end of the paper, I will summarize the significance of dialogic novels of Coetzee, briefly discuss the views of power and history from Coetzee.The form and content of Coetzee’s novels are full of dialogic consciousness, he advocates the spirit of equality and democratic dialogue, this spirit will provide a possibility for the people in a variety of power relations who want to live in a harmonious society, this way may also deeply implied the true value and the existence of "human".
