The opera reform originated in 1902, not only advanced the prosperity of opera,but also made the paper media pay close attention to it, and as a result, modern professional opera newspapers came into being. On the other side, With the rapid development of the paper media, Shanghai Opera had opened up part of its place in Shanghai. November 28, 1934, Shanghai Opera Research Institute was founded to assist the social education and improve the standards of Shanghai Opera, so at the beginning of its foundation, Shanghai Opera Research Institute immediately draw support from professional opera newspapers and start a publication named<Shensheng Monthly >, as imitation of the publications founding wave created by theater groups in the late 1920 s and early 1930 s. Nine kinds of publications was funded before Shanghai was liberated, and the issuers were varied, including Shanghai Opera groups, the manager of the broadcasting stations and newspaper reporters, but all of them, maintained close contact with the circles of Shanghai opera.Based on this situation, they got reliable and diverse news channels and the capital to sell themselves to the audiences, which makes the Shanghai Opera publications different from other publications.There is no doubt that the Shanghai Opera publications were founded based on the development of the Shanghai Opera.
