| In the background of globalization, informatization and the rapid development of urbanization in China, the spatial evolution of city material is becoming more and more fierce. As the tool of city management and culture carrying body of urban place names in the fast changing, a large number of urban place names have appeared and will appear. The urgent need to solve contradiction problems between the culture of the urban place names and economic development, city planning and city names of management, therefore, the research to city rapid city road in the process of evolution has realistic meaning of the name, which can provide a reference for protection and inheritance of the urban place names’ culture and planning management of the urban place name.The thread of this research:first, this article collects and organizes urban place names of Nanjing in 1982 and 2010, using literature data and census data as the foundation in 1982 and 2010 in Nanjing, then analyses the spatial pattern of evolution of urban road names and the names of different name-type update change using statistical analysis method, the ArcGIS space mapping and spatial analysis methods; second, this article analyses the evolvement mechanism of space and time of urban road place names from the urbanization and urban planning based on the theory of space production as well as the cultural ecology and so on, and the evolvement mechanism of various types of urban place names from real estate investment, the urban cultural tourism development as well as game theory of the globalization and localization; finally, it finds the problems of protection of the urban road names, naming and update, and puts forward some corresponding suggestions.The main conclusions:(1) the change of city road names is very significant in the process of urbanization, and exists spatial differentiation, and the updated road names is in the old city area, a large number of new urban place names distributed in the inner city periphery, especially the Hexi New City. When urban road names spread outward from the inner city, city road name space of the overall density is reduced. The old city has always been the area of space high value density of place names, and the density of road name conforms to the depth of the historical and cultural background. (2) The number of each type of road name tends to imbalance, the change of the type of place names verifying the evolution of the urban functions. The residential, commercial and tourism functions of the city are continuously strengthening. New urban road names which inherit the historical heritage or not exist spatial differences. The new urban road name in the inner city generally follow the history of city, those in the path of the rural regional place names basically using rural place names, extending the memory of village, timely place names associated with historical partition mainly distributed in the Hexi New city area and the north and southeast of inner city. (3) Urban planning and urbanization can fully explain the road space evolution law of place names, while the change of each type of road names is influenced by the real estate investment, tourism development and the influence of internal and external culture of city. Power and capital profoundly influence and dominate the space production of contemporary urban, also directly or indirectly affect the process of development and update of the urban road names. |
