The Spring and Autumn Annals and Chinese ancient historiography has an essential relationship. It is the Spring and Autumn Annals’ academic orientation as well as Zuo Zhuan’s demonstration in events keeping and history narrating that makes it more cultural and theoretical in exploring the relationship between classics and historiography compared with the other Confucius classics. This thesis aims to analyze and explore the unique status of the Spring and Autumn Annals on the basis of personality interpretation through the characteristics of times in Wei Dynasty, Jin Dynasty as well as Northern and Southern dynasty, and the Spring and Autumn Annals in Han and Jin Dynasty. Therefore, the existing theories about the relationship between classics and historiography can be enriched and the historical books on “Three Kingdoms”, Romance of the Three Kingdoms written by Chen Shou and interpreted by Pei Songzhi as the representative, will be better understood in academia.The first chapter expounds the spread and development of the Spring and Autumn Annals in Han and Jin Dynasty. It takes the discussion of the nature of Spring and Autumn Annals by the scholars at that time as the subject, and pays attention to the Confucian knowledge of historians in Han, Jin and Southern Dynasty.Chapter two mainly collect the times that Romance of the Three Kingdoms quotes the Spring and Autumn Annals and classify them. At the same time, it also analyzes the realistic value of this phenomenon and further evaluates the social and political functions of Spring and Autumn Annals in Han and Jin Dynasty from the aspect of practical application.The third chapter comprehensively reveals the features of the Spring and Autumn Annals embodied in Romance of the Three Kingdoms and explores its reason tentatively.The fourth chapter focuses on the great influence on the compilation of "Three Kingdoms that produced by the writing technique of Spring and Autumn Annals. The narration in Spring and Autumn Annals is unique and its writing style and examples embody the principles of right and wrong. The writing techniques of Spring and Autumn Annals draw the attention of the scholars and historians extensively in Han and Jin Dynasty after the interpretation of Gong Yang Zhuan, Gu Liang Zhuan and Zuo Zhuan, especially the induction of Zuo Zhuan. Spring and Autumn Annals seriously affects the style and form of historical books of “Three Kingdoms”. It not only makes historical books flourish in annalistic style, but it also affects the development of historical books written in biographies to some extent.The Fifth chapter mainly analyzes the traditional view on the relationship between the emperor and minister which is praised in the Spring and Autumn Annals, especially its influence on evaluating the characters in historical books on “Three Kingdoms”. This kind of evaluation shows certain consciousness. Meanwhile, historians in Han and Jin Dynasty attach greatimportance on Spring and Autumn Annals when they evaluate the characters. They mainly do the moral evaluation according to Spring and Autumn Annals directly, in order to achieve the goal of "ruling".The sixth chapter discusses the great impact of the Spring and Autumn Annals on Chen Shou’s historical thought. It largely reflects the principle of right and wrong in the Spring and Autumn and Chen Shou’s conception of heaven and man, as well as the principle of kingly way in the Spring and Autumn Annals and Chen Shou’s ideal society.In short, historians in Han and Jin Dynasty not only accept the ideological guidance of the Spring and Autumn Annals in compiling historical books on “Three Kingdoms” consciously, but also explore and imitate the technique of writing of the Spring and Autumn Annals, which shows the influence of the Spring and Autumn Annals on historical thoughts and historical concept.
