Non-Suicidal Self-injury(NSSI)is not only a disfunctional behavior, but also one kind of emotional regulation strategy. It refer to an intentional behavior which repeatedly destruct one’s body tissues without the intentions or purposes of suicide. The West began to pay attention to the self injurious behavior from the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. To date, substantial results of research in this field had been published. In China, the studies focus on self injurious behavior started in the end of twentieth Century. Making a general observation of domestic research on Self-injury throughout 40 years, the subjects were college students mainly, and included some middle school students. The research in this field is mainly adopted by questionnaire survey, and some case study. Prior research was focus on the related factors to Self-injury, but not involved the functions, that is, why do people injure themselves.Basing on the existing research, this study modifies the sub scales of Functions,Routines and Impacts of the Non-Suicidal Self-Injury-Assessment Tool( NSSI-AT), takes students of junior and vocational middle schools as the subjects, and aims to explore the relationships between the function of NSSI and other related factors. The conclusions are as follows:(1)Fitting the model of social support, coping style, emotions, depression, life satisfaction and self-injury by using Robust Estimation. Indicators are in line with the requirements, show that the model construction is reasonable.(2) Comparing with the normal adolescents, the adolescents with NSSI take more negative coping style, with more negative emotions and higher level of depression, besides, they lack of social support and with a low level of life satisfaction.(3)The modified Non-Suicidal Self-Injury Function Assessment Tool with good reliability and validity.(4)The negative coping style and the lacking of social support both effect well-being,and lower level of well-being may lead to be more negative emotions, lower level of lifesatisfaction and self injurious behaviors.
