The Effect Of Poverty Attribution On Depression:the Mediating Role Of Coping Style And Social Support | Posted on:2022-10-21 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:Z Y Zhang | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2505306548459504 | Subject:Applied psychology | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | In 2010,China has basically eradicated absolute poverty,but relative poverty will remain for a long time.Among them,the emotional problem of the poor has been paid more attention.Studies have found that the generation of depression is not only related to individual internal psychological factors,but also related to the external environment.This study will explore the relationship between individual poverty attribution,social support,coping style and depression with the poor group in Hangzhou as the research object.Based on the results of this study,measures and suggestions are provided to improve the depression of the poor.In this study,China Poverty Attractions Questionnaire,Simple Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ),Social Support Rating Scale and Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9)were used as measuring tools.And this study randomly select 259 low-income and marginal low-income groups registered in August 2019 from a district of Hangzhou,and 221 valid data were finally obtained.SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 21.0 were used for data analysis,and the research results were as follows:1.The depression status of the urban poor group: 66.5% of the people have mild or above depression,among which 35.30% have moderate to severe depression.The depression status of this group is related to education level,age and physical health status.People with lower levels of education,between the ages of 40 and 60,and moderate levels of physical illness or disability were more likely to be depressed.2.Characteristics of poverty attribution patterns of urban poor groups: poverty attribution patterns can be divided into two tendencies,namely external tendency and internal tendency.The external tendency refers to ascribing poverty to "lack of opportunities","social system" and "fatalism",while the internal tendency refers to ascribing poverty to "personal ability".This study finds that the urban poor mainly attribute the causes of poverty to "lack of opportunities",that is,the attribution style presents the characteristics of external bias.At the same time,the poverty attribution style of urban poor groups is related to age,and the older the people are,the more inclined they are to "fatalism".3.The relationship between poverty attribution style and depressive mood state in urban poor groups:(1)For the group with internal attribution tendency,the correlation between attribution style and depression mood is not significant.(2)For the group with external attribution tendency,there is a significant correlation between attribution style and depressive mood,and the more attributed to external factors,the more serious the depressive mood will be.(3)Coping style and social support played a chain mediating role in the relationship between externality of poverty attribution and depression.According to the results of the study,the following countermeasures and suggestions are put forward:(1)Correctly guide the poor groups the attribution to poverty.(2)Make use of community organizations to provide more social support resources for urban poor groups.(3)strengthen the psychological treatment and organization of group counseling for the urban poor groups.(4)for different urban poor groups,to provide a variety of social services. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Poverty Attribution, Depression, Coping style, Social Support | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
