Crosstalk is a form of folk art performance which rooted in folk, originated from life and welcomed by the masses. In2006, the crosstalk was listed as the first batch municipal intangible cultural heritage of Beijing. Ma Sanli (1914-2003) is a master of comic performer who was the consultant of Chinese Artists Association and honorary chairman of Tianjin Artists Association. In the long term of dedicated exploring,he founded the distinguished "Ma crosstalk."In1937, the Sino-Japanese War broke out, a number of folk artists from Tianjin and Beijing like Zhang Yutang who is both the Ma crosstalk disciple and crosstalk comedian of Tianjin moved to Xi’an starting with street performing.Crosstalk was divided into two genres:Beijing school "handsome", Jin school "strange", then formed a school of the Northwest" Especially "which combined with Northwestern folk customs, and gradually formed a faction of the Northwest " Especially ". Until earlier liberation period, there were many folk art teahouses along with Xi’an East5Rd and Minle Yuan.With the innovation and development after the founding of New China,Xi’an crosstalk was recognized by the audience gradually. For decades, the disciples of Ma crosstalk have rooted in Xi’an.Until now,there are dozens of professional crosstalk organization which formed its own characteristics on the artistic style, creative adaptation and the way of performing gradually.During its spread and development in Xi’an, the "Ma crosstalk " was divided into three periods according to the developing track and the phased characteristics,namely: from Sino-Japanese War to the early Cultural Revolution, late cultural revolution to the emerging of television comic, back to the theater after the crosstalk low.At the same time of combing the local rules of crosstalk,researching of how to protect the crosstalk in inheritance and development,strengthening its life continually and serving for the social and the people in a good way. Suggestions and advice about the its development and protection should be proposed in the four aspects:insisting the art creation,keeping its characteristic,combing the local culture and establishing industrial chain.
