The composition Feng Shui, which was directed and choreographed by me was bornin Hong Kong2008, it is different from the folk dance in inland. So it won thedance award in Hong Kong in the year2009. After5years, I was honorably invitedby “Hong Kong Dance Company” to choreograph dance and Feng Shui is on the stageagain in Feb2013. It was admitted again, I deeply feel my artistic concept is basedon the study of Chinese professional folk dance. It is formed from differentiationbetween different cultural backgrounds and artistic aesthetics. My growth is themain cause of keeping feet on Hong Kong, where is the place for combination ofChinese and western culture. This paper is originated from my background of art experience and my artisticconcept is to discuss the development of Chinese professional folk dance in alienplace. In the paper, I stated detailedly my concept of the development based onthe following four aspects: Chinese professional folk dance, contemporary stageaesthetic in China, today’s art market atmosphere and the dance work presence. Ithink the development needs to keep a foothold in traditional culture, but shouldnot keep the inherent pattern without change. With the help of a tendency ofcontemporary art market, we should not chase the time tendency blindly. Focus onthe presence of stage art creation, we can review the value orientation andaesthetic tasting in the process of its development of Chinese professional folkdance what is present in different cultural markets.
