Democratic politics embodies the level and condition of democracy and the rule of law, and represents the trend and direction of the modern political development in the country. Mao Zedong, as an excellent representative of the Chinese communists, researches on the problem of Chinese democracy by leading the Chinese revolution and construction practice for a long time, especially during the Anti-Japanese War period and the liberation war. His democratic political thought constitutes the focus of democratic ideals in his life and the highlight of the glorious chapter. It discusses his democratic political thought during the Anti-Japanese War in this paper to intend to draw the reasonable kernel of the thought. What’s more, it contributes to construct a democratic and harmonious modern country.Mao Zedong’s democratic political thought is based on the Marxist theory, summarizes the lessons from failure of the feudal monarchy and draws lessons from reasonable composition of Chinese traditional people-based thought and Soviet democratic political thought, thus scientifically answered that China should adopt what kind of democracy politics.Contemporary, he also demonstrated the close relations between democracy and armed resistance. He pointed out that the new democratic politics was the political form and the implementation of the way suitable for Chinese situation at that time, then cleared and explained the new-democratic republic’s character and regime. In the concrete practice of anti-Japanese revolutionary base areas, combining Marxism with Chinese revolution and construction creatively according to historical conditions and the need of era, Mao Zedong pushed the system of democratic election, carried out the "three-thirds system" regime thought and practiced a system of democratic supervision to ensure the democratic rights of the people. Thus, in the new situation and new requirements, the construction of socialist democratic politics should inherit and develop Mao Zedong’s democratic political thought,consequently building the socialist democratic politics with Chinese characteristics by regarding democracy as soul and acting rule of law as pathway and shield.
