Wang Yun was a well-known writer in the Liang Dynasty, who enjoyed equal popularity with Liu Xiaochuo, and was the desendant of the Wang family from Lang-ya. Wang was talented and won recognition from Xiao Yan, Xiao Tong and Xiao Gang. His high literary accomplishments won him the appreciation of Shen Yue, a famous poet of that time who later became a forget-the-age friend of Wang’s. Wang was a productive writer with One Position, One Volume of 100 volumes. This paper studies various documents and gives a systematic research of the figures, features and influence in Wang’s social intercourse.This thesis is divided into five chapters. The introduction part goes the review of the researches on Wang Yun in the late 20 years and brings out the research design. The first chapter is consist of two parts, one is the figures in his social intercourse, including noble family members, officials, eminent monks and his relatives; the other part is the features and influence of his social intercourse. Wang had rich experience and extensive intercourse and he made friends with people from different classes and of different identities, and his social activities had regional features but maintained the glorious status of Lang-ya family, expanded the influence of his own which in all benefit the preservation and spread of his works.The second chapter analyses the influence of Wang Yun’s social intercourse towards his official career and thought. Social intercourse influences his official career changes and left a hugh impact on the development of his views of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. The third chapter discusses the influence of his social intercourse to subject matter, techniques and style of his writing. Wang had mere contact with the underclass and his works were with the mainstream then and his contact with different schools of literature affected his literary creation directly. The forth chapter is of two sections, one is Wang’s relation with Xiao Tong and his influence on Xiao Tong’s life and literature thought, the other is the relationship of Wang and Xiao’s work Literary Selections. Wang was an important scholar of Xiao, which explains that his relationship with Xiao and the book Literary Selections was one important factor which influenced his eminent status in literature. At last is the appendix of the figure investigation.
