Chopin, the great musician of the Romantic Period, is honored as piano poet. He devoted most of his time to the creation of piano composition, which was characterized by the nationalism filled in them. And the Mazurka was the essence of his national music.This article makes a concrete analysis on the origin, background and classification of the Mazurka, and also its performance and progress. Chopin’s Mazurka is composed of the folk-dances of three different styles, including Mazur、Obertas and Kujawiak. Chopin grew up in the war times, and was forced to leave his homeland Poland because of war chaos, and then he moved to Paris. Chopin went through a lot on both his emotion and his life after arriving in Paris, so there was a big change on his creating style during this period. There is a strong personalization on Chopin’s music, which shows different visual and sound effect. So this article focuses on the musical terminology, the grace note, the feeling and rhythm of key touching and the use of pedal. And makes a concrete analysis on the performance combining with his creating style and feature. This article also carries on the research on the version of Mazurka, in order to let us make a better understanding on Mazurka and perform it well. Polish composer Szymanowski in 20 th century inherited and developed Chopin’s Mazurka, and created the Mazurka of new century. Thus, Chopin’s Mazurka got a further development.Chopin’s Mazurka not only made a great contribution to Polish musical cause, but also had a tremendous influence on the development of the world national music.
