This paper is divided into five chapters to conduct the research.The first chapter is the introduction, which sum up the research background, research significance, research method and research object of this thesis. Besides, this chapter focuses on summarizing the research status about Henry Selick’s films and "the dark fairy tale" animation film.The second chapter is the overview of Henry Selick’s "the dark fairy tale". For a start, it makes concept definition, creative exploration and literature source analysis of" dark fairy tale" At the same time, it makes introduction of Henry Selick’s animation works in this chapter. Afterwards, it is the research about the phenomenon of Gothic style integrating into the "the dark fairy tale". It presents the development status of Gothic "the dark fairy tale" animation after introducing the Gothic art and Gothic animation.The third chapter is the narrative characteristic and the spiritual connotation of Henry Selick’s "the dark fairy tale" animation.
