Chagall is painting style is unique, unique in the history of western modern painting. Hispainting style was influenced by the Jewish spirit. In his works, the religious consciousness waswinded by his Jewish national peculiar melancholy and loneliness. At the same time hispainting absorbs the different factions of the art style, including Fauvism, cubism and surrealismart concept. In addition he was influenced by Jewish art culture, which makes hisart unique and very emotional, touching. The Wei and Jin Dynasties murals of Dunhuang is in atransitional period of innovation, is an important stage in foreign culture and nativeculture’s fusion, which use pictures to preach the doctrines, probation people. The Dunhuangfrescoes through thousands of years, which is the result of the blending of Chinese and Westernculture, is compatible with a variety of artistic ideas and style in the long process of developmentof art form and very representative. I think that there are the same places Chagall is painting artand murals of Dunhuang, this paper makes a comparative analysis on the composition techniques, color, shape and free space time view of religious consciousness etc.The thesis is divided into five chapters, the first chapter is Chagall painting art and muralsof the Dunhuang review; the second chapter to the fifth chapter respectively by work analysis, from the composition techniques, color, shape and free space time view of religiousconsciousness four aspects. May see through the analysis, performance in the techniques, bothpictures in the composition techniques are focus on the picture of a sense of charm, express thesubject matter "vivid sense", that painting is as depicted by painting images of the inner spirit.Dynamic lines, the picture composition Chagall is work and in the Dunhuang murals areattracting the viewer’s location. On the other hand, Chagall was influenced by Cubism, theinfluence of modernism, all kinds of use in the picture segmentation, rational strong. Dunhuangcraftsmen were just ordinary people, and had no research on painting. When they were at thetime of writing, they only focus on their own senses, consider how to let the audienceunderstand, how to express the artisans sentiment, which is the focus of the Dunhuangmurals. From the space-time idea, both of which are similar. Watching Dunhuang murals, thepicture is very mysterious, is a manifestation of life, and reflects a kind of religious philosophy. To cause the viewer the feeling is mainly from folk artisans. Builders had different livingenvironment, cultural influence and other factors affecting their painting thinking. They present a kind of illusory feeling in the picture. In Chagall is paintings, his living environment and lifeexperience has exerted an important influence on Chagall is painting. In his paintings, some ofthe plot and the environment are very specific. His paintings depict the memory of hometown, ordescription of his present living environment, with the concept of space-time of the freedomof expression of these specific events. In the use of color, they are very subjective. Likered, often appear in both the painting; give a person a kind of festive atmosphere. But on theother hand, the Dunhuang frescoes in the color is not using color contrast system, design a largepart of the reason from the Dunhuang murals is completed by the ordinary craftsman, they didnot receive formal color guidance or training. While Marc Chagall received western paintingmethods of learning, are in line with the color modeling rules. Based on the color onthe other rules, he expressed the feelings of color picture. In other aspects of religion, bothstyling is amazing. But different from the East and West cultural expression, five thousand yearsof history and cultural background is complex and diverse Oriental complex. Dunhuang frescoimage more imagination in the form of feeling, many modeling from fairy tales. And theWestern cultural environment is rational, so Chagall in painting work modeling is veryexaggerated, but is fundamentally pragmatic.Comparative study of three different artistic styles of religious consciousness appearing inpainting work, make me realize that they have many different approaches but equallysatisfactory results place. To explore the similarities and differences between them reveals thenecessity of Chinese and Western culture from fusion and Its Inspiration to contemporary youthstudents, has the practical significance for our today’s painting art research to find abreakthrough.
