Idioms are the quintessence of language and essence of culture. As an important constituent part of teaching Chinese to the foreigners, teaching of Chinese idioms can carry out the teaching of vocabulary, grammar, rhetoric etc and its position and role can’t be underestimated. But, the special characteristics of idioms make the teaching of idioms very difficult. Although the foreign students take a lot of interest towards Chinese idioms, but while studying and application of idioms, the situation is still very stern. This article taking Cheena Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University as the focus of study, carried out an analysis and classification of the idioms which are there in the teaching materials, it also carried out a study towards the tactics of the native teachers in teaching idioms and the tactics of the students I practicing idioms. It also reported the biased error committed by the students in the application of idioms. The writer, proceeding from practical teaching methods, carried out an analysis of the problems that emerged in the process of teaching and practicing idioms and also put forward appropriate countermeasures and provide a new way of thinking for teaching idioms to the foreigners.
