A Study On The Classification Of Ci Terms And Their Membership In Xiao

Based on the field work, following the guidance of Descriptive Linguistic theories, this paper first does a synchronous description of the classifier in Xiaozhang Miao Dialect; then explores its hierarchy system of noun classifier under the guidance of Cognitive Linguistics theories; last tries to analyze the general classifiers and shape classifiers in noun classifier, the investigation has the following results:(a) there is semantic hierarchy system in Xiaozhang Miao Dialect noun classifier; (b) the organization of noun classifier category is composed by Family Resemblances; (c)there is typicality hierarchy in the noun classifier category members; (d)due to differences of the collective cognitive level and view, some nouns can match several different classifiers. This paper divides into five parts:The first part is a general introduction of Xiaozhang Miao Dialect, including current situation, methods, and corpus sources.The second part is the synchronous description of the classifier and the hierarchy system of noun classifier in Xiaozhang Miao Dialect. Xiaozhang Miao Dialect classifier is composed of two parts:noun classifiers and verb classifiers. First is synchronous description of the two kinds of classifiers, following is the simple explanation of its grammatical function. The key point is to conclude the hierarchy system of noun classifier.The third part is about the attributes and similarities in noun classifier. This part analyzes the attributes of general classifiers and shape classifiers category, and explores similarities between category members, we found Family Resemblances is the way of classifier category organization. This part also analyzes the phenomenon of "one noun matches several classifiers".The fourth part is the conclusion of this paper.
