Research On The Quantitative Category Of Zaozhuang Dialect

"Capacity" do exist everywhere in the human cognitive.Objects are measured in space and number;events are measured in time and action;and quality is measured in degree.When these capacities,which reflect the objective world,are projected into the language as a cognitive way,categories as "space","number","time","degree" can be formed.These categories are generalizations of different "capacities",and all of them can be grouped into one epistemic category———capacity category.Therefore,the"capacity" in the capacity category can be expressed in terms of specific values,such as"three books,one hour,Five meters high",and can also be expressed in non-numerical terms,such as "very white,snow white".This dissertation mainly discusses the categories system of capacity in Zaozhuang dialect,and sorts out different forms of different "capacity".This paper is constituted by 7 chapters:Chapter 1 briefly introduces the humanistic geography and dialect of Zaozhuang,makes a research review of studies on capacity category in Chinese and dialect,and a brief introduction to the dissertation's significance,the method employed and theories adopted.Chapter 2—7 discusses the capacity category in Zaozhuang dialect.Chapter 2—6 discusses the categorical system of capacity——a syntagmatic study of capacity content:objective capacity,temporal capacity,action capacity,spatial capacity and degree capacity.This dissertation sorts out capacity's different forms in different subcategory,and lists their semantic features from lexical forms and grammatical forms.Lexical forms mainly include classifier(such as object classifier,action classifier,spatial classifier)and numeral phrases;while grammatical forms not only include those forms,for instance,reduplication,affixes,word order and functional words,but also include some special structural frames and fixed sentence pattern.Chapter 7 discusses different form of capacity categories——a paradigmatic study of expressive modes of capacity:subjective category.According to the subjective evaluations of the speaker,the subjective category can be divided into large category and small category.Chapter 7 probes into subjective category in Zaozhuang dialect from four aspects:adverb marker,frame marker,sentence end marker and quantitative marker.Conclusion makes a condensation of the main content of the whole dissertation.It also points out its originality and deficiency.
