Franz Schubert(1797-1828)is a famous Austrian composer,one of the representatives of the early Romantic music. Schubert mentioned, people thought his art songs first. Known as “king of songs”, Schubert created a large number of outstanding art songs, while some of his piano works occupy equal importance. The beginning of nineteenth century was a transition period of classicism and romanticism in the history of western music, so his innovations of piano works were based on classical rational, rigorous, well-proportioned form, and these works described romantic lyric, bardian, free content, which can be called rational romanticism. Schubert perfectly blended two styles of classicism and romanticism, moreover piano impromptus Op.90(D899)and Op.142(D935)are one of the classics. Influenced by art songs, singing melody is the unique charm of his impromptu creation.This paper launches the research on Schubert’s two sets of piano impromptus, mainly divides into three chapters:Chapter Ⅰ: Discuss Schubert’s historical background, important life events, appearance of impromptu genre, creation background of Schubert impromptus. Lay the foundation for objective, comprehensive perception of Schubert’s music.Chapter Ⅱ: Analyze musical structure of impromptus, and explain two pieces in marginal musical form that have greatest breakthrough. Only have a clear understanding of musical architecture, and then can explore creation characteristics of Impromptus correctly and deep. For each creation characteristic of Impromptus, divide into several small sections to describe.Chapter Ⅲ: According to the author’s actual playing experience of impromptus, combining performance knowledge accumulated during the learning period, analyze important points of impromptus performance, and how to solve difficulties through practice.Schubert’s two sets of impromptus were created on the year before his death. They are representative works in his mature period, and concentrated expressions of the piano creation essence in his whole life. The romantic breath, revealed from musical compositions, marked the arrival of a new era, and also played a pioneer role for the future development of romantic works.
