Newspaper reading teaching in TCSL is a course of teaching Chinese by reading newspaper. The course of learning newspaper reading can effectively improve students’ Chinese level. It can improve reading skills of learners as the threshold and enrich their information with Chinese cultural knowledge and Chinese social background. It is also a necessary way to learn authentic Chinese for international students. The characteristics of Newspaper reading teaching is strong professional, large vocabulary and information content, how to effectively interpret the text, how to cleverly memorizing words, how to integrated understanding of Chinese language and culture, the aim of this article is to enhance the newspaper teaching cognition, improve the efficiency of Chinese learning and increase interest in reading newspapers.The article is based on the former researchers’findings about the newspaper reading teaching and doing questionnaire survey, it is supported by theory of cognitive linguistics, according to current situation of newspaper reading teaching in TCSL. The cognitive teaching method approach into the newspaper reading teaching, trying to solve some problems for the current newspaper reading in teaching. The Cognitive approach of cognitive linguistics has guided us to learn English vocabulary, reading newspapers and periodicals based on English, it also apply in the research of Chinese language teaching. This article focus on the prototype theory, conceptual metaphor theory and graphics -- background theory, and it is a preliminary exploration of the application in the teaching of cognitive linguistics in Chinese newspaper reading. The so-called "the application of teaching, teaching without fixed method", the teaching form which is conducive to enhance the learning ability, cultivate interest in reading should not exclude. Many scholars have been on the tendency of research on cognitive linguistics and two languages teaching. This paper use two kinds of newspapers and periodicals reading materials as corpus, and try to demonstrate the feasibility of cognitive teaching approach in Newspaper reading teaching in TCSL.This paper is divided into six parts:Including the introduction, the concept of cognitive teaching method, the theoretical basis of the cognitive teaching method applied in the newspapers and periodicals reading teaching in TCSL, a new perspective of cognitive teaching, the present situation of newspaper reading investigation and analysis, cognitive teaching method in the application of the newspaper reading teaching in TCSL and the principles and strategies of cognitive approach to implement. Introducing the theory source of cognitive teaching method and its application in newspaper teaching, this paper delimits the definition of cognitive teaching method and analysis the meaning of its newspaper reading teaching that centering on the definition. Analyzing foreign Chinese newspaper reading class and present teaching situation through the form such as questionnaire or interview, investigating and analysis of the mode of learning, cognitive style, newspapers and periodicals teaching so as to guide the teaching of the follow-up study. It is a way to explore new teaching ideas for the newspaper reading teaching in TCSL, and broaden the implementation of the cognitive teaching direction. In addition, this article also made the cognitive teaching method in teaching hypothesis and the lesson plan design.
