A Study Of Adverbs In Post - Han

The Book of Later Han is an important document of the medieval period, from the linguistics angle carries on the system research is of great value, but researchers pay much attention to collation and hermeneutic on it, while the grammatic research on it is far away from enough. Adverb is a special kind of the word system, has the advantage of high frequency, but its semantic is virtual, it is an important bridge between word and grammar, the systematic study is very necessary. Therefore we select the adverbs of he Later Han to study, trying to analyze the Book of Later Han from the perspective of grammar.In this paper, using the research methods of the combination of description and explanation, we make a overall description of adverbs on the Book of Later Han.There are 369 adverbs in the Book of Later Han,which are divided into 5 categories, such as the scope adverbs, degree adverbs, time adverbs, mood adverbs, manner adverbs. According to the semantic and functional combination of the standard the adverbs is divided into 38 small classes, semantic of important adverbs, syntactic functions point analysis.In this paper we make a detailed analysis of the structure types and characteristics of the Book of Later Han’s adverbs. The sources of adverbs and formation conditions are investigated.We find that adverbs mainly consists of grammaticalization development,differentiation and derivative are the main means of the adverb formation. Semantic, syntactic position and pragmatic play an important role in the formation process of adverbs.We select some special adverbs such as "he", "ya", "guo", "zhuan", "wang wang","shi zhong", "zi qing", "yu zi" to study,trying to inspect the formation process of adverbs.The adverbs of the Book of Later Han not only have inheritance, but also have innovation. Inheritance in single syllable adverbs is very obviously, innovation performance more prominent in the double syllable adverbs on. The number of polysyllabic adverbs in accounting for 41.19% of the total number of the Book of Later Han, adapting to the trend of Chinese polysyllabic. There are 149 Synthesis of adverbs. The way of word formation is relatively complete,such as united, modified, verb object, overlapping, reanalysis. Competition among adverb members always exists to maintain basic stability and sealing of the adverb system.On the the Book of Later Han Adverb study, we can know something about the adverbs of the Middle Ancient Chinese.lt also has some benefit to the research of Chinese language history.
