As one of the leading writers of New Realism, Chi Li has always been dong things for the current citizens by describing the secular world and facing reality and life sincerely. Her novels demonstrate meaning of life, significance of survival, and value of life from the current citizens in this modern commodity economy society, for she has exposed the Chinese views on love and marriage and the true state of their living condition by creating a unique secular view on it from her specific female perspective. The secular spirit embodied in her novels once became a heated discussion among the critics. The researches are mainly focused on from two points:one is about how she deals with "do not talk about love"; the other is about her female consciousness hidden in her love narration. The researches are still relatively concentrated although they have been diversified; moreover, some researches still stay on the surface, for they can not flee away from the conclusion "do not talk about love." This paper is to make a breakthrough in depth and breadth by amplifying some supplements on the researches.Basing on the Chi Li’s novels about love and marriage, the writer likes to analyze her view on love and marriage and the development of her female consciousness. The paper consists of 6 parts. The introduction is mainly on the present situation about the view of love and marriage, the research purpose and thought. Chapter one is to analyze her essence on love and marriage in her secular world by interpreting her novels in detail. Chapter two is to explore the essence of secular love and marriage------the pursuit of romantic love above the earthly love from three viewpoints:the first love affair is exquisite at the beginning; any utilitarian marriage is impracticable; and an extramarital love is understandable. Chapter three is to analyze Chi Li’s marriage form from the geographical environment, the traditional culture and her own personal growth. Chapter four is to disentangle the development course of her female consciousness from her love narration.
