| The problem of humanity contains people’s philosophy on human-self. We are so close to it to see our owns’ cells, skin and body, hear its voice, feel happy or sad. However, we are also so far to it to fear its coldness and cruelty, fail to notice the darkness in its soul.We smile when crying, tear when laughing. We try to give comfort but suffer the attack. We try to give kindness while have to bear the sneer. We even have to take care ourselves from the unexpected assault when we try to leave away from it. It is happy when you are happy and also happy when you are sad. It releases its satisfaction at the most unexpected moment and destroys its existence in the most amazing creations.Literature is also a kind of human science. The myth in the beginning of human history contains people’s exploration on the life through magical imagination and fantastic plot. The myth of Genesis, the narration of human being’s first ancestors were banished,imply that people’s attitude to the self-awareness.The dual cognition of soul and body contains the humanity with deity and devilish. The Id in the sub-consciousness will release strong power of creativity drived by love force, and will help people to get the complementation in the society during the confliction of surviving, which constitute human beings’life instinct and deity image. To the hero Grenouille in this thesis, his first crying after the birth strongly shows his living desire on the earth. His nose, as a special and super existence of humanity, leads him to ascend the throne in the world of odor. Drived by strong power of the will, Grenouille achieves self-achievement in the end, and become a real king in his own country of the odor and beloved angle in people’s eyes. At the same time, the application of the narration mode of the hero in the story to portray the figures in the novel and arrange the structure of the story also helps to model the deity characteristics of the hero in the novel.The religion theory of original sin actually points to human being’s devilish existence. Genesis narration contains human being’s independent ideology and dialectical recognition to humanity. In the beginning, the earth was without form and void, where it contained the sin. Then, the sin is becoming clear when the consciousness is becoming independent. On the road of exploring the self-achievement, Grenouille changes to plunder the odor at last instead of enjoying it in the beginning. Then, his sensitive nose becomes to be the instrument of plunder and possession other than a way to accept the truth, goodness and beauty of the world. And his humanity as a result becomes sharply imbalanced and aliened in the confliction between Eros and Death instinct. Surviving then is not for love, for experiencing, but for hate, for destroying, for revenging. Now, the human body, which contains beauty, goodness and truth in the beginning for being sensed then descend to the material for the industry in the human society. Method with ration then can be a way to help the draining of human evil. Civilization made by Eros becomes a worm bed for revenge, destruction and killing. Human being’s devilism contains strong destructive force in the instinct to destroy the world as well as destroying human-self. At the end, when the destructive force to the out world reachs to the peak, it becomes to change its way to the inward. Eros has descended to be an instrument; love instinct in the humanity as a result shrinks completely. Human beings are sublimated in their divine characteristics while destroyed by their devilism.Based on those literal thinking above, my thesis start to take analysis on the hero in the novel Das Parfum-Die Geschichte eines Morders written by Patrick Suskind. The humanity with divine characteristics help Grenouille to get the achievement in the world of perfume, while the humanity with devil characteristics lead him to self-destroying after his success. Such a kind of tragedy destiny gives our readers endless thinking. |
